Biography
Micha holds a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in Computer Science from the Technical University of Darmstadt, Germany.
Since 2023, he works as a Ph.D. student at the Data and AI Systems Lab at the Technical University of Darmstadt and is supervised by Prof. Carsten Binnig.
Thematic Advice
Myriad processes in science, business, and society emit large amounts of semi- or unstructured data that often contain valuable insights. While this raw data can be stored in large data repositories such as data lakes, uncovering its hidden insights is a challenging problem since it often requires a deeper understanding of the data, which is tricky to obtain due to the data’s unstructured nature.
Micha works on tools that help to discover the unstructured data’s contents and connect them with particular information needs. Furthermore, he develops novel approaches to solve classical data engineering tasks like data integration and cleaning.
Through his research, Micha has acquired experience in designing, implementing, and evaluating interactive (human-in-the-loop) systems that allow non-experts to extract information from unstructured data sources such as text collections.
Professional Competence
Micha’s research is primarily centered around data engineering and the intersection of natural language processing and data management systems. A major goal of his is to enable large language models to work with large amounts of external data, allowing them to solve data retrieval, integration, and cleaning tasks on data lakes.
