SDL Energy Conversion presents

Advanced Meshing in OpenFOAM

Date: 03rd - 04th May 2023, 1:00 pm - 5:30 pm, 9:00 am - 1:00 pm; Format: online

Short abstract:

High-quality meshes are a prerequisite for reliable CFD simulations, and this requirement is more challenging as the complexity of the geometry and physical phenomena increase. Simulations of laminar and turbulent reactive flows, Large Eddy simulation as well as Conjugative Heat Transfer problems are examples that need tight mesh requirements. On the other hand, engines, gas turbines, and chemical reactors are examples of complex geometries involving small gaps, sharp edges and convex surfaces. SnappyHexMesh and blockMeshare the most commonly used tools for the mesh generation in the OpenFOAM toolbox.

This course provides a deep insight into these tools to help OpenFOAM users to set up a valid mesh strategy for every circumstance, from basic validation geometries to the most encountered geometry problems. The provided hands-on sessions are designed to build up know-how that users can quickly transfer to their daily problems.

Language: English

Further information: The course targets OpenFOAM users with some meshing experience who are interested in gaining know-how on real-case complex geometries.

Materials: Will be provided to the participants during the training
